Hands-On Raptor Conservation Experience

Our Volunteer Programme offers a unique and immersive opportunity to actively engage in wildlife conservation on an operational sanctuary in Kenya working with our partner organisation, The Kenya Bird of Prey Trust's (KBoPT). This hands-on experience is unlike any other, providing specialised training in raptor conservation - an area of expertise few other conservation organisations specialise in.

As a volunteer, you will participate in meaningful fieldwork, including population surveys and banding studies of African Fish Eagles on Lake Naivasha, a RAMSAR site renowned for its rich biodiversity and status as a birdwatching paradise in the Rift Valley. You will also monitor the breeding population of Critically Endangered Vultures in Hell's Gate National Park, while contributing to essential conservation efforts to improve and protect Kilimandege Sanctuary.

Volunteers are based at The Naivasha Raptor centre, assisting in the care of our diverse collection of permanent resident raptors; cleaning and maintaining enclosures, feeding the birds, and interacting with daily visitors, all of which are essential for the efficient operation and funding of our centre. Occasionally, when such situations arise, you will be able to join a rescue mission, and sit in and assist on an operation in our clinic with our in-house avain vet, Dr. Juliet Waiyaki.

We also offer an engaging internship programme for individuals seeking a deeper and more stuctured experience in conservation aand raptor rehabilitation. As an intern, you will work closely with our experts, developing practical skills while contributing to vital research and conservation initiatives.
